Did you know that Papaya Stories can travel in time with the power of music?! We have been delivering the magic of silent disco on foot, on water…and now on a TRAM! Can you believe that?!

We are thrilled to have teamed up with MOTAT – the Museum of Transport and Technology in Auckland – to create a unique and unforgettable Silent Disco experience on board a real gem – a vintage tram aka spaceship!

The MOTAT team got in touch to design a brand-new family-friendly audio adventure that would tell a story of the retro tram and spice things up a little bit by adding the elements of our bespoke Silent Disco Citywalk® 

Curating immersive audio events that includes research, scouting, script production, voice-over recording, etc. is something we at Papaya Stories know a thing or two about. Together with the MOTAT team, we were excited to co-create and make a new story with its characters alive! We ran six 20-minute sessions with more than 100 participants of all ages in total on the day!  

Fuelled by the power of music and some cool moves, our vintage spaceship took off to transport us to different music eras and genres. As the crew and our passengers taped their feet to funky beats, the magic of silent disco kicked in! Parents seemed to have been as excited as their kids, if not more. And it was a truly special moment for us to see those happy faces enjoying the moment! The story started to unfold in front of our eyes, that’s how the groovy journey began!

We started in the golden 1920s, with jazz and swing music moving on to the 1950s with rock and roll. From there, we explored different genres, from funk to our favorite disco when all of a sudden, the tram saw passengers turning into disco dancers with colorful wigs and sunglasses on! We actually did a thing… and turned the carriage into the dance floor! Have you ever heard of a Tram Catwalk? We did it too!

Everyone had a blast as we danced, listened to a fun narrative, and enjoyed the beautiful surroundings lightened up in the evening.

The feedback we received was heart-warming, with participants raving about the experience, saying it was unlike anything they had ever done before. The pre-recorded audio story was also a big hit, with participants commenting on how it added an extra layer of engagement to the experience.

We thoroughly enjoyed our collaboration with MOTAT and we’re excited to see what the future holds for us as we keep expanding the horizon and creating bespoke immersive events for everyone to enjoy.
